The Artists...
Laura ~
I began creating jewelry back
in 2001 as kind of a personal challenge. I've always enjoyed expressing myself
creatively but never found the right 'niche'. A friend of mine began making beaded jewelry
and opened up a whole new world to me. Once I began creating
jewelry I was hooked. I loved it! As time passed though, I
realized that for me there were only so many ways to express
myself with jewelry. I loved it, but it wasn't entirely "Me". What I
found, was that more and more I was drawn to the artisan lampwork
beads I was using to create with. My passion lies
with color - it always has - so creating lampwork beads
seemed a natural progression for me. Doug was very supportive of me
trying it out and with the help of a couple of amazing glass artists
(Cassandra Barragan and Amber Ballard - I owe you so
much Amber!) who actually flew out to give me lessons,
a new glass junkie was
born!
Doug ~
After setting up our lampwork studio for me,
Doug became intrigued by the thought of playing with fire.
He started looking through my bead stash and absolutely fell for boro beads. He'd had no
idea you could make glass do those things. With as taken as he was
with boro beads there was no keeping him off of the torch!
While he hasn't attempted boro yet, he will be soon, so look
out!
